How Much Have You Forgotten?

1999 seems like 70 years ago now!

I am way older than I feel and if I try to recount my memories it really isn’t clear what happened. Let's begin with Medium for instance. I knew I had one but I would not know what to answer if asked what I have published in the past. My best guess is some sort of non-sense that I hoped would gain amazing traction and launch me to the pinnacle of my career. That’s not what happened.

Webinars, Especially Free Ones are Well Worth it.

I recently attended a Zoom webinar hosted by a former co-worker that started a new business. I would tag them but I will see if this article shoots me to the pinnacle of my career. I’d hate to tag them in a dud. A lot of the information presented includes platforms and tactics I already use, such as Medium. I forgot about my Medium content as fast as my Napster password. For those of you that wonder what Napster is, feel free to google it or check out this quick history.

Did You Remember Napster?

The funny thing is that the streaming service could have been created 70 years ago vs. 20 years ago based on the rate of technological advances. Netflix used to provide DVDs through the mail and you got to keep them until you wanted another. That’s right if Shakes the Clown with Bobcat Goldthwathe was your jam you could keep it forever. That’s of course until you wanted to see Hot to Trot. All I know is that the only thing that I have that takes a disc these days is something I don’t use much.

Out of Sight Out of Mind

It is nice that companies have come along to keep our subscription services in check. Companies such as TrueBill will allow you to monitor all of your subscription services and you can sit back and say “when the fk did I subscribe to that”. There is a point I am making through all of this tip tap typing and that is relevant to anyone trying to launch a career. Keep track of what you sign up for, even if it is free.

My New Goals, Same as the Old Goals

In a former life, I was a marketer. I enjoy marketing things that make sense, fit logically, and make your world a better place. I do not like marketing that is full of crap, misleading you into a trap of financial misery no matter how big or small, or attempts to sway an opinion with falsehoods. I have an abundance of marketing skills and I will use them to get me to you. My voice presenting your product except I am a small part of the process. My part is easy for you because I am the one doing it.

Promises Made and Promise Kept

There are a few things that go into every job that help lay the foundation for success. Showing up is a large part of getting the job and a bigger part of keeping it. My promise is to show up, take direction, be humble, allow you to create. A Voiceover role is defined in the description and I take direction well. I will not try to be something I am not. My British accent is about as good as my hurdle running so I will refrain from both. I am sure with some practice I can get better at both but why not focus on my wheelhouse because there is much more creativity than what appears on the surface.
